The metal work is undamaged with original blue finish and is crisply stamped with the correct 'L' prefix serial number on the trigger block 'L14183' which dates its manufacture to between 1920 & 1921 (see page 27 of the Collectors Guide to Air Rifles By Hiller). The rifle has a blade fore sight and adjustable dial rear sight. It has the correct ribbed butt with trap. It’s original wood stock has chequered panels at the pistol grip. Also known as the 'L' or Ladies/ Light model it measures 39 ½” overall with a 17' rifled barrel. 1 Model 177 calibre, under lever air rifle. The left side of the weapon bears the serial number ‘S68982’ which is in the 1913-14 serial number range and Patent No. The air cylinder has crisp BSA Improved Model D detail (illustrated). The cocking arm has a ribbed release lever on the left side. The butt is ribbed with trap & the stock is inlaid with void silver escutcheon. It has its original pistol grip wood stock in superb condition with correct chequered panels on the grip.

The weapon's barrel is stamped 'BSA Guns England.22 Cal' also with partially visible BSA piled arms logo. It is fitted with sling swivel lugs and a rubber recoil pad the end of which bears the BSA piled arms logo. The stock has a finely chequered wrist for grip.

The barrel is also marked with the BSA stacked rifles logo and ‘BSA Guns Ltd England’ together with.22 Calibre detail. The barrel is stamped with 2nd issue serial number 'GP00250'. The cylinder is grooved for telescopic sight. The top of the air chamber is correctly marked with model detail (illustrated). The woodwork with BSA piled arms rubber recoil pad and 2 tone Chromed & Blued metal work are undamaged. This is a very good B.S.A, Airsporter 'S'.22 Calibre Air.
